Chicago Bears: Five Shining Stars vs the Las Vegas Raiders

David Montgomery was putting up some of the best stats for a running back in football before his injury last week against the Lions. The Bears, thankfully, got much-needed support from both Damien Williams and rookie Khalil Herbert in Montgomery’s absence.
Williams, the former lead running back for the 2020 NFL champion Kansas City Chiefs, scored the lone rushing touching for the Bears run game against the Raiders. He finished with 18 touches for 84 total yards and that score.
With a rookie quarterback at the helm and an offensive line that is improving slightly week-by-by-week, the team will need to focus heavily on the run game. It’s why they had a total of 34 rushes with their two backs.
Williams gives you a strong runner and a good receiver, something the team is missing at the position with Tarik Cohen continuing to be out with his knee injury. Williams proved Sunday he didn’t lose a step after sitting out the 2021 NFL season and that the team can continue to rely on him in a lead role.
Williams, who projects as a better pass catcher than Herbert, should see more touches and a higher snap count if the team is trailing in any upcoming game.
