Chicago Bears Head Coach Candidate: Jim Harbaugh – Stock Neutral

Last Week: Stock Neutral

Jim Harbaugh is still on my shortlist despite the fact that Michigan laid a dud against Georgia in the first round of the college playoffs yesterday. Georgia dominated the game from start to finish as they won 34-11. To make matters worse, Michigan was only able to score three points in the first half — the final eight came when the game was out of reach in the fourth quarter.

Georgia’s offense seemed faster and more talented. This is probably true as Michigan seems to struggle to recruit in the same way that the top teams in the SEC do. There’s a reason why Alabama and Georgia are the last two teams standing.

The thing is though, Jim Harbaugh is still a great coach no matter how this game ended. Moving him back into the NFL would honestly be a blessing for him whether he wants to admit it or not. The parity in the NFL is much greater than in college football. We have seen Harbaugh find great success in the NFL and he is the exact CEO type that I am coveting. I also think he brings a presence to this team that the organization needs right now. No more “yes” men.

Had Harbaugh found a way to make the game closer or even win, then his stock would be rising. That said, I don’t think the loss matters and he’s still likely in my top five.
