Chicago Bears Head Coach Candidate: Byron Leftwich – Holding Steady

Last Week: Up Slightly

Two weeks have passed since our last report. When you have young children, Christmas can cause many delays and well, I didn’t have the time to do the full stock report. With two weeks now in the books, Byron Leftwich is holding steady. He saw his stock dip two weeks ago in a 9-0 loss to the New Orleans Saints, but then came back with a vengeance last week with a 32-6 win over the Carolina Panthers.

The playcalling and execution were a bit of a problem versus the Saints. It did not help that the team lost their two top receivers in the second quarter though. Injuries to Chris Godwin and Mike Evans didn’t make Tom Brady’s job easy. That said, there was no reason the Bucs should have lost this game. Byron Leftwich should have been more creative and found ways to get into the end zone.

The Bucs had no problem scoring versus the Panthers last week though. It should be pointed out that  Brady struggled with his accuracy once again. He completed only 18 of 30 passes for a 60% completion rate. The plays were there though and Leftwich should be a hot name this offseason. He and Kellen Moore were already interviewed by the Jaguars who started their interviewing process this past week.
