Chicago Bears Rumors get louder on Ryan Pace status
Over the past few weeks, there have been conflicting reports about the status of Chicago Bears General Manager Ryan Pace. Head coach Matt Nagy has been told he will be let go, but nobody knows what the Bears will do with Pace, who seems to have owner George McCaskey’s respect.
Earlier this week there was plenty of speculation that Pace had a better 50% chance of staying with the team. Now, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune is pouring a sprinkle of gas on that fire.
"I can tell you in talking to people around the league, there definitely is a portion of folks who believe he has a good chance of remaining with the Bears either in his current role as general manager or in some other capacity on the football side of things. Others believe the Bears will make more sweeping changes than just replacing coach Matt Nagy.I can tell you once source I spoke to earlier this week said a little more than a month ago, he would have put the chance of Pace staying at slightly higher than 50%. Now his belief is Pace’s chances of remaining with the Bears is greater than that."
Both Biggs, and Hub Arkash made sure to note that while Pace is likely to stay, it is unclear whether that is as the General Manager or in another role. Either way, both pointed to him staying.
It is interesting to note that both had a source who said that they are slightly higher 50% with him staying. Perhaps it is the same source, but perhaps McCaskey truly is 55/45 where he stands today.
Either way, if you have read us over the past couple of weeks you know that Pace should be removed.
The Chicago Bears have a great chance to start clean from the top all the way down, and they have a quarterback that can allow whoever gets brought in a fresh start. Keeping Pace, who has been desperate to keep his job only muddies the chain of command, and has suitors wondering what his role or long-term status will be.
The signs are pointing harder and harder to the Chicago Bears making another mistake.
