Report: Chicago Bears have made head coach decision
There have been plenty of rumors discussing the future of Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy. However, while most fans and media seem to agree that Nagy will be out at the end of the year, the front office in Chicago has been quiet.
Many expected the announcement to wait until the end of the season, and while that does appear to be the plan, the rumors of his departure are starting to emerge.
Boomer Esiason is not quite an NFL reporter, but as an NFL quarterback who works in the media, he certainly has his sources. He also is not the type who spreads rumors or is trying to make a name for himself. With the report coming from Esiason, you know it is legitimate.
The reality is that nobody is going to be surprised by this either. While some fans who fear that Chicago will always do the worst were worried, the writing had been on the wall for weeks.
Now, the question is whether or not this report opens the door for an interview or two this week. If a head coach is told he will be let go, the team can conduct Zoom interviews. While they only have a few more days to make it happen, it could save some time to get a quick call in.
Still, considering there are no reports that they will interview anyone, and with Esiason adding that they will wait until after the game on Sunday to officially let him know, you can assume that the Chicago Bears will not use the extra time to interview anyone.
They will let Nagy coach out his term this week, and Monday morning he will be informed of his future. As for Ryan Pace, rumors have been far too quiet, and there is a legitimate chance that he may make it to the other side.
