The Chicago Bears have moved on from Matt Nagy, which may not be surprising, but certainly is notable. With the addition of Ryan Pace being shown the door, it opens the possibility for the team to go all-in on a big name such as Jim Harbaugh.

Why the Chicago Bears can hire Jim Harbaugh

There were two big factors going against the Chicago Bears landing Jim Harbaugh. The first was that he had an interest in the Raiders as well. The Raiders have plenty of personal connections for him, and if the Raiders and Bears got into a bidding war, Bears fans know they would be worried.

However, with the Raiders making the playoffs, it makes it harder for them to hire a new coach. Rich Bissachia may turn the interim tag into a year or two as the head coach. Either way, the Bears can interview and hire a coach next week, while the Raiders cannot.

If Harbaugh thinks that the Raiders will keep their interim coach, and knows it is time to jump to the NFL, the path to the Chicago Bears cleared up.

The other issue with Harbaugh to Chicago was Ryan Pace. No way was Harbaugh going to let Pace pick his players and run his show. The two do not know each other, and Harbaugh is too controlling.

If Harbaugh is hired, a friend or someone he knows will be the General Manager.

Moving on from Pace, combined with the Raiders winning has now opened the door for the Chicago Bears to hire Jim Harbaugh. The Bears would have to cede a lot to him, but if this is what they wanted there is no better time than now to make the big splash.

Harbaugh is a culture-building coach and has a great relationship to bring in coordinators. Heck, he may even bring Vic Fangio back. Keep his name in mind over the next week.
