3 underrated free agents the Chicago Bears can pursue from Super Bowl
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago bears could pursue center Brian Allen
If new general manager Ryan Poles has his way, the offensive line is going to be one of the more dramatically-improved positions in Chicago this offseason. Of course, Poles is a former offensive lineman and his desire is to keep Justin Fields clean.
More than likely, the Bears will build the interior up as they will roll with youngsters Teven Jenkins and Larry Borom on the outside. James Daniels is a free agent and, by most accounts, the Bears are prepared to let him go and search for a fresh face. Sam Mustipher will probably not return, and maybe the Bears shock us and cut ties with Cody Whitehair.
If the interior has three positions up for grabs, then Brian Allen would be an excellent signing to begin rebuilding that area. Last year, Allen had an impressive grade with Pro Football Focus at 80.2.
Funny enough, Allen is from Illinois and would be returning home with the Bears. He is a very good run blocker, especially within a zone scheme. Allen was one of the very best run-blocking centers in football this year. His pass protection could use some work, but overall he would be a strong signing.
