Chicago Bears 2022 NFL Draft Prospect: Wan’Dale Robinson

The second player on my board that could be around for the Chicago Bears to draft on day two would be Wan’Dale Robinson. Did I mention Darnell Mooney already? Well, this isn’t him. Robinson plays like a running back at receiver despite a similar size and speed. If you wonder why Robinson plays like a running back, that’s because he is a running back playing receiver. Try not to imagine Deebo Samuel when we talk about Robinson.

The Gamecocks had a Matt Forte Clone and didn’t know how to use him. The 49ers are doing just that right now. Robinson was the entire Nebraska football team at one point. It wasn’t until his lone year with Kentucky that they said we have a receiver here. Robinson went from getting 88 carries and 50 receptions (2019 Nebraska) to seven carries and over 100 receptions (2021 Kentucky).

My pro-player compression will sound weird, but I comp Wan’Dale Robinson to Tarik Cohen. Had Cohen been five inches taller, I could genuinely see him as I do Robinson. They are uber explosive athletes that can play in the backfield but should be out wide or in the slot.

He has active feet — I mean just energetic and gritty feet that never stop moving. They both play with that confidence of a giant. Robinson also tends to body-catch the ball a ton like Calvin Austin III. The Chicago Bears might have a fair shot at adding Austin III and Robinson via a trade-down scenario, but then again, maybe not. Kyle Shannahan is out there sniffing around, I’m sure.
