Damien Williams would be smart to move on as much as the Chicago Bears will be going in another direction. When Williams signed with the Chicago Bears, he signed with a head coach he knew in Matt Nagy that promised him playing time. He did not see Khalil Herbert as a threat and was a David Montgomery injury away from changing his career.

Nagy gave him his playing time for the most part, but Nagy and Williams both underestimated Herbert. Now, David Montgomery is the man, and Herbert is not only a backup but a potential strong second punch in the run game.

Ryan Poles may have familiarity with Williams, but it is not the same as a play-caller in Matt Nagy. Williams has to see that he is clearly the number three guy here, and only Matt Nagy would have played Williams over Herbert when they were both healthy. When Williams missed time last season it opened the door wide for Herbert, and it was maddening to see Williams take away from that when he came back.

Bringing him back would either mean Williams is going to get no playing time and be mad, or he will get too much playing time and fans will be mad. He should move on.
