Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 6. player. 2408. CB. UTSA. TariqWoolen

One of the more intriguing cornerback prospects who can be found later on is UTSA’s Tariq Woolen. The senior corner stands 6-foot-4, making him one of the biggest cornerbacks in this year’s class. He offers outstanding length and athleticism, which is sure to draw interest from Eberflus.

Woolen, simply put, is an athlete. He’s played multiple sports over the years, including basketball and running track for UTSA. Originally, he came on as a wide receiver and played his first three seasons there before switching to defense. Because of that experience at wideout, he has the ball skills you desire for a corner.

Only playing cornerback for two years, Woolen still has some things to work on. Overall, it’s mostly his technique. He’s still learning how to anticipate routes and take the correct angles. But, Woolen has all the physical tools necessary to play defensive back in the NFL.

With a year or two of development under Eberflus and Williams, Woolen could turn into one of those late-round diamonds for the Bears. It’s not for lack of talent, because Woolen has it. He’ll just need a little time to develop. As a sixth-round selection, he’s well worth it.
