9. Damien Wilson could find a reunion with Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears are going to change their defensive scheme but they are not going to make complete changes overall. Still, minor tweaks and adjustments will come and Matt Eberflus will certainly want to imprint his mentality and style on the new roster.

That could mean bringing in some familiar names from past stops to help make things easier. Damien Wilson could be a smart addition who makes that work.

Wilson is not a flashy name, but he started and played nearly 80% of the snaps for the Jaguars last season. Of the list of names to blame in Jacksonville Wilson is probably pretty far down, so the reality is that you have a starting-caliber NFL player whose situation around him has his reputation worse than what it is.

That is the type of player that could fit the Chicago Bears. Beyond that, Wilson not only has ties to Matt Eberflus but also GM Ryan Poles. Eberflus was the linebackers coach when Wilson was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys.

When Wilson hit free agency, the Kansas City Chiefs scooped him up. Both big decision-makers in Chicago can speak to their experience with him to find out if he is worth a shot.

Wilson is going to come at a price that is slightly above the veteran minimum. Considering how much they will be paying Roquan Smith, it is not a bad idea to go safe, but cheap with his partner. Wilson could help Smith adjust to the new scheme and show him the ways as he has worked with most of the defensive staff. This move could be for the best for Roquan Smith, which goes a long way.
