1. Should Chicago Bears sign Matt Gono

If you want to hear an option that is flying far under the radar then you came to the right place. Matt Gono missed all of the 2021 season with an injury. That puts him in a tough spot as a free agent, but there is some upside.

To start, at age 25 he is one of the younger free agents available in the NFL. Beyond that, while he missed 2021, he had four starts in 2020 and saw the field as a depth piece in 2019.

Lastly, we have a strong connection to the Chicago Bears coaching staff. Matt Gono was a UDFA who caught on with the Atlanta Falcons.

His offensive line coach at the time was Chris Morgan, who is now the Bears offensive line coach. Morgan saw a UDFA work into a starter, and for the right price, he would surely be found coaching Matt Gono again.

Gono could find himself competing for starting snaps in Chicago, and is young enough to turn his entire career around. Cheap, not flashy, but tough and familiar with the coaches could turn into a nice bargain for the Bears.
