Reason No. 1 Dane Cruikshank fits the Chicago Bears: His playstyle fits Eberflus’ “M&M” principle

After Eberflus’ H.I.T.S. principle became public, more of coach Eberflus’ acronyms/principles have come to the light.

Most recently, the “M&M” principle was unveiled.

"“It’s the M&M principle,” Eberflus told reporters on Tuesday. “It’s about having a great motor and about being mean, and that’s what you need on your lines. The defensive line needs that and the offensive line needs that. You’ve got to finish, and when you finish the right way at the line level and you play with that demeanor, that meanness, that’s the kind of guys we want to acquire. That’s what we’re going to expect of our guys up front. We can’t do that this time of year until we get the pads on, but that’s what we’re going to expect. We’re going to demand that.”"

After reading that, it’s clear what Eberflus wants. He wants effort, he wants physicality, and he wants someone that can be both for an entire game– not just a few snaps per drive.

While Cruikshank has yet to blossom as a true NFL starter, the scheme Eberflus seems to be bringing to Halas Hall should fit well with what Dane Cruikshank brings to the table.

He might not blow fans’ socks off, but with what Matt Eberflus has been able to do with non-household names before paints a good picture of what Cruikshank could blossom into under Eberflus.

And it all starts with M&M, something Dane Cruikshank brings with him onto the football field well.

With one reason out of the way, what’s next?
