When reports came out that the Chicago Bears sent Alan Williams to Houston, the light switch immediately clicked. It was clear that Williams was there to see what defensive lineman Logan Hall could bring to the table, and from that day you knew that the team had to be interested.
Since then, we wrote a draft profile highlighting his fit, and also found a way to squeeze him into the most recent mock draft in an attempt to predict what the Chicago Bears will do.
Yet another piece to the Bears’ interest in Logan Hall came out today when the team reportedly had Hall in for a pre-draft visit, using one of the 30 that have been allocated.
This is a sign of clear interest. The team met with Hall at the NFL combine, and Williams was able to get some one-on-one time with Hall at the Houston pro day. Still, the team wanted to get more, and see if Hall could fit into the culture, the building, and everything that the Chicago Bears are bringing.
Considering they only have 30 visits, and already spent plenty of time on Logan Hall you can say that the team is very interested, causing them to use one of their 30 on him.
Why Logan Hall fits Chicago Bears
The fit almost makes too much sense. When the team went out and signed Larry Ogunjobi, it was a statement about how Matt Eberflus wants to build his defense. He wants a DeForest Buckner-type disruption from the interior and someone who shoots gaps to cause issues in the backfield.
The Bears missed on Ogunjobi due to his foot and pivoted to Justin Jones, but you know that if Eberflus wants to build his defense around the role and that he wanted to make a splash with Ogunjobi that he is not satisfied with Jones.
When we broke down Hall it was apparent that his best role would be in the 3T as a gap shooter and penetrator. It could be reasonable for Eberflus to think that the young upside of this player is worth building his defense around.
Considering the team is highlight interested in this role, and Hall is arguably the best player at this specific role, the fit is pretty perfect. The Chicago Bears think so too and have been putting him under the spotlight to make sure that they do not miss anything in his evaluation. Do not be surprised if the team ends up drafting Logan Hall.
By most accounts Hall is a top 50 pick, so one of pick 39, or 48 could be the perfect landing for him.
