The Chicago Bears have made sweeping changes to their roster, and that includes the safety room. We looked at the position just one year ago as the Chicago Bears were leaving OTAs. Here is what the depth chart looked like with the names in bold being the only names still with the Chicago Bears.

Eddie Jackson

Tashaun Gipson (unsigned)

Deon Bush (signed with KC)

Jordan Lucas (unsigned)

DeAndre Houston-Carson

Marqui Christian (unsigned)

Gipson, Christian, and Lucas remain unsigned, which has been too common for this depth chart reports. Remember, Christian was in the slot getting beat by Cooper Kupp during the Chicago Bears Week One loss. At least Deon Bush was able to find a home.

Chicago Bears 2022 Safety Depth Chart

Eddie Jackson

Eddie Jackson has been trending down the past couple of years, but the team is hoping that a new defensive scheme and a better partner in the box like Jaquan Brisker can bring out the best in Eddie Jackson.

Jaquan Brisker (draft)

The team liked Brisker so much that they could not pass on the player they graded the highest. Now, they are hoping that he can complement Jackson perfectly.

Dane Cruikshank (FA)

The team signed Cruikshank with eyes on their dime role.

DeAndre Houston-Carson

DHC stepped in admirably last season and signed back cheap. Now, he gets to compete for a chance to be the dime safety.

Elijah Hicks (Draft)

Elijah Hicks was a seventh-round pick from California, coming right before punter Trenton Gil.

Jaylon Jones (UDFA)

This UDFA is a safety from Ole Miss.

AJ Thomas (UDFA)

AJ Thomas won a roster spot during rookie minicamps. The UDFA from Western Michigan.

Jon Alexander (UDFA)

The Chicago Bears signed Jon Alexander as a safety from Charlotte. He will be competing with Thomas, and Jones to make a name for themselves and stick around whether on the roster or practice squad.
