4. Nicholas Morrow, Free Agency

Nicholas Morrow does not get the talk of the big acquisitions this offseason, but the Chicago Bears are treating him like that. It also is hard to say that he will step in and immediately take the job next to Roquan Smith.

Morrow is flying under the radar because he missed all of the 2021 season. However, his 2020 was strong and he was becoming a trusted linebacker starter with the Raiders.

Matt Eberflus has one area of expertise, and that is linebackers. He has a long line of success with this group highlighted by his most recent hit of Darius Leonard.

His linebackers coach Dave Borgonzi has a great track record of success including names like Kwon Alexander. If this group can identify one spot, it is a linebacker.

They liked what they saw from Morrow in 2020 and think they found a reliable starter for lower than the going rate.

The Chicago Bears already have Morrow calling plays in practice, something that Eberflus had Anthony Walker do beside Leonard to let Leonard become more of a playmaker. He could see Morrow as the Walker to his Smith being in the Leonard role. If Morrow becomes that next year it is a valuable role that makes him well worth the acquisition.
