Chicago Bears 2022 Roster Ranking: No. 81 Micah Dew-Treadway

As we get closer to the start of training camp we are going to get closer to the top of our ranking of the Chicago Bears roster. This list will rank the team from 90 to 1 and look at how impactful each player could be on the roster. Just how important will their performance be?

So far, we are at number 81 overall.

Chicago Bears 2022 Roster Ranking: No. 81 Micah Dew-Treadway

The Chicago Bears signed Micah Dew-Treadway this offseason as a rookie UDFA. While he is young and comes with team control, he is this low because the team had many draft picks, and did not select Dew-Treadway. They also signed the most UDFAs of any team.

Dew-Treadway is a smart addition to add depth. He played on the defensive line at Minnesota and should slot into the 3-technique competition.

Still, Dew-Treadway was not invited to the NFL combine, and at the Minnesota pro day he showed us why.

Below you can see his athletic testing in comparison to your average defensive tackle.

He is well below average, and there are very few NFL players with a lack of athleticism similar to Micah Dew-Treadway. Beyond all of that, he is going to be a 25-year-old rookie. We already discussed this with Velus Jones, but in most cases, the true NFL standouts are the ones who have success in college around age 18 or 19. Waiting until you are older than everyone to have your best success probably indicates that the talent is questionable, to begin with.

When you combine the age, pedigree, and athleticism you have to take this UDFA signing with a grain of salt. He is not quite your typical training camp depth signing, but that is how he should be looked at.

Seeing him make the practice squad would be an impressive win at this point, which is what pushes him so low on this list.
