The Chicago Bears added a heap of free agents as they attempted to rebuild the roster overnight. The result is more of a tear down than a rebuild at this point, but they had to start somewhere. While they did not spend big money, or trade-up, or add the big names that fans wanted, they did bring in over 20 new players expected to make the roster.

The hope is that new GM Ryan Poles was able to fill the depth of the roster with a chance to swing bigger next offseason, but there are going to be some signings from this offseason that turn into household names.

4. Nicholas Morrow

Nichols Morrow could wind up being one of the better signings by Ryan Poles. At the least, when it comes to dollars per snap, he could be one of the highest-value players. The Chicago Bears did not have anyone in to fill the linebacker spot next to Roquan Smith.

Danny Trevathan and Alec Ogletree are still unsigned, but it is clear that Chicago is moving on,  just like the rest of the NFL. The Bears have turned their heads to Nicholas Morrow now.

Morrow is going underrated because he missed all of the 2021 season. Still, that is what helped Chicago get him cheaper than expected. They obviously liked what they saw in 2020 and have been throwing him into big-time roles, even calling plays at OTAs.

Considering the team has been set on letting competition play out, and forcing veterans like Jaylon Johnson to earn first-team reps, it is significant that Morrow is in the highest roles already. He will be the steady name next to Roquan Smith, and the Bears are hoping it leads to a value.
