While we countdown from the end of OTAs to the start of training camp we will also be counting down the Chicago Bears roster from 90 all the way to number one. This will look at how these players are expected to impact the roster next season, and what type of value they will present when it comes to wins and losses.

We are down to number 72 on our list.

Chicago Bears 2022 roster ranking: No. 72 LaCale London

2020 ranking: 85

2021 ranking: 74

LaCale London is entering his third NFL season. As a rookie UDFA he was number 85 on the 2020 roster, but after seeing him stick around for a year, we had him up to number 74 last season. London has been hanging around the practice squad, and now with a new General Manager, he moves up again, but only to number 72.

That is because while he is a player who is on the rise, and has proven doubters wrong, he also now has to face a scheme change. Ryan Pace drafted him as more of a project than anything and that is why he kept him around.

Pace saw the potential and some in the NFL may agree. However, if the role in which he brings his best potential is not quite what the new staff wants to do on defense, then he is stuck in a bad spot.

London has the talent to be a bit higher, and potentially make the practice squad. However, with a UDFA in year three now playing for a new coaching staff and General Manager, it is hard to push him up too much higher, as the rest of the players have been brought in by this staff.

Still, London will have every chance to compete and earn a roster spot in training camp. A practice squad role for another year would not be all that shocking either, which is why the low 70s makes sense.
