We are counting down the days until training camp starts by counting down the Chicago Bears 2022 roster. This will be looking at how these players could potentially impact the 2022 season.

So far we have counted all the way to number 71.

Chicago Bears 2022 roster ranking: No. 71 Charles Snowden

2021 Ranking: 61

Last season Charles Snowden was ranked a bit higher, for obvious reasons. To start, he did stick around but was on the practice squad for the entire year, so it was hard to grasp what he was doing in terms of growth.

Beyond that is the obvious change in coaching staff and front office. This is a Ryan Pace UDFA, and one who has not shown enough to get too excited about. Ryan Poles is bringing in his guys and it means Snowden really needs to show something to make the roster.

Beyond that, Snowden was signed as a 3-4 outside linebacker. He was arguably too skinny to even play in that role, which is why he needed a year on the practice squad. With that in mind, it is hard to think that he is nearly bulked up enough to be a 4-3 defensive end.

If he makes the roster, it would be in the SAM role. Still, that is a position he has never played before. They will ask him to do some similar things off of the football, but this is a bigger shift for him, and one that takes him further away from what he was expected to be.

It is hard to guess where he fits into the depth chart because is not quite an edge rusher but has never been a true off-of-the-ball linebacker.

Perhaps the coaching staff have a perfect role for him. Most likely, they see him as a piece from the old roster that they may not be interested in putting the time and resources into when they have their own personal favorites. Snowden sticks near the top 70 but suffers a drop due to scheme change.
