As we count down the days remaining until training camp starts we are also counting down the Chicago Bears roster from number 90 all the way to number one. The countdown will focus on which players are most important to the success of the team in 2022.

We have worked our way down to number 69 overall on the roster ranking.

Chicago Bears 2022 roster ranking: No. 69 Christian Albright

Christian Albright is a linebacker from Ball State. He is a UDFA rookie this year and was not initially signed after the draft. He was invited to the Bears rookie minicamp and wound up getting a contract that weekend.

That is why Albright may not be in the top 67, which is arguably 53 men plus 14 practice squad, but he could certainly be one of the UDFAs who sticks around in that spot.

Albright is athletic, and while he was not invited to the NFL combine he flashed it at the Pro Day. Below you can see how he compares to Jack Sanborn, a fan favorite, and another UDFA rookie at linebacker.

Between Albright and Sanborn the two are going to be battling for a roster spot, and both may end up making the practice squad. No one is saying Albright is better, but they will come in with similar athletic traits, which makes it a fair competition.

When looking at the linebacker room it gets very thin after Roquan Smith and Nicholas Morrow. Matt Adams will probably make the roster, and then you could say that anyone who shows up ready to win a job can make the roster as a fourth, fifth, and maybe even sixth linebacker on the 53-man roster.

Christian Albright is athletic and has shown enough as a UDFA to get into the top 70, but cannot quite get into the top 67 or the top 53 yet. We may see him higher next season if he can prove himself this year.
