We are counting down the days until the Chicago Bears head to training camp by counting down the roster from 90 to 1. This will be looking at which players can affect the roster most often in the 2022 season.

Now, we are onto the 54th overall player, Carson Taylor.

Chicago Bears 2022 roster ranking: No. 54 Carson Taylor

Carson Taylor is a rookie UDFA from Northern Arizona. Being a small school player, and a UDFA that has to make it a bit skeptical to see Taylor this high. He is just outside of the top 53 players on the roster.

Still all reports from training camp are that Taylor has a legitimate shot to make the roster. From the reports out of OTAs, the practice squad is extremely likely at this point.

The practice squad is built for teams to get a one-year look at developing players and considering the rookie UDFA is from a small school, even if he looks rough around the edges he is going to get a practice squad nod. It would take him being a complete failure to get cut and not picked up to the practice squad.

Still, when it comes to the Bears roster, he could find himself on the roster, and all it would take is a Robert Quinn trade. With Quinn gone, the depth chart would be Trevis Gipson, Al-Quadin Muhammad, and Dominique Robinson before plenty of questions for the fourth edge rusher. Taylor would be first in line.

AQM has not practiced with an injury, and Robinson is a rookie himself. Taylor could really shoot up the roster with the Quinn trade. As of now, he is the top option to be a practice squad player, and that puts him locked into 54, right outside the top 53.

That is where Carson Taylor should be ranked entering training camp.
