We have now seen 11 alternate helmets released for the 2022 NFL season. Personally, I find the Cincinnati Bengals alternate helmet to be the best one released at this point. There are some close ones that many might find better too. As of now, we have not seen a Chicago Bears alternate helmet and I’m not so sure we will. This franchise can be a little stale at times and I can see them wanting to remain traditional.
Here is a look at some of the helmets released thus far:
Out of these four, I’m ranking them Bengals, Panthers, Eagles and then the Jets. There are plenty of others that I’d put somewhere between the Bengals and Jets though. The Cowboys for example looks very clean and I’d have a hard time not putting it in my top three.
I’m not a fan of either of the New York alternate helmets. You saw the Jets and the Giants one might be even worse. It’s just a throwback to one of the more boring helmets to ever be seen in the NFL. Yawn.
Another one I’m not a big fan of since it doesn’t look different enough is the Atlanta Falcons helmet. It’s probably because red just isn’t my favorite color — not even close.
The Commanders’ alternate helmet might be boring to many, but for some reason, I kind of dig it. The idea of just having a number on it is actually cooler than it looks. It somewhat reminds me of high school when helmets were covered in decals earned on the field.
When it comes to throwback helmets, my favorite one of these alternate helmets has to be the New England Patriots one. This is an iconic helmet that brings me back to my childhood.
I cannot explain it, but these Texans helmets are better than the Falcons helmets despite both being red. Maybe it’s the Texans logo that got me. Honestly, I am not 100 percent sure why, but I’d put the Texans at least over the Falcons. That said, it’s also not great.

The New Orleans Saints helmet is also probably very underrated. I love the little Saints logos combined to make a pinstripe.

What should the Chicago Bears alternate helmet look like?
The Bears would have a few different options seeing that the logo has changed a handful of times throughout the franchise’s history. The Bengals helmet is a bit of an inspiration if I am being honest. I’d love to see the Chicago Bears alternate helmet be all white with a navy C, maybe outlined in orange or no orange at all — either one would work.
Why haven’t the Chicago Bears signed Jaquan Brisker yet?
With rookies and quarterbacks reporting to Halas Hall on Saturday, there's still work to be done between the Chicago Bears and Jaquan Brisker on a contract.
I would also be open to either an orange or white helmet with the actual Bear logo on the side of the Chicago Bears alternate helmet. What I do not want to see is the same throwback helmets the team used in 2020 for the 100-year anniversary. Those were not bad jerseys, but the Chicago Bears alternate helmet should be different in 2022.
We don’t know the answer as of yet, but what would you want to see happen should there be a Chicago Bears alternate helmet in 2022?
