5 Chicago Bears who have gone missing this offseason
Chicago Bears who have disappeared this offseason: Notable Mentions
Alright, there are a few others who deserve to be notable (not honorable) mentions here. These guys are not all on the bubble either, but I just thought we’d hear more from them this offseason. Some have dealt with injuries (similarly to Mario Edwards), while others just haven’t done anything special.
Julie’n Davenport, OT
When it comes to Julie’n Davenport, nothing stands out to me about him other than the spelling of his first name. Davenport was a former fourth-round pick of the Houston Texans. He’s also known as the guy wo was included in the Texans’ trade to the Miami Dolphins for Laremy Tunsil. Davenport is currently on the team’s third string line and may struggle to stick around.
David Moore, WR
The only reason David Moore made any headlines was the fact he was arrested this offseason — the third Chicago Bears player to be arrested this year. He is now dealing with an injury, but hasn’t shown enough in my opinion to supplant some of the other receivers vying to make the final roster. I think I’d even keep Dazz Newsom over Moore at this point.
Angelo Blackson, DT
Another player who hasn’t made much noise is Angelo Blackson. As a nose tackle in a 4-3 scheme, it’s hard to make true “noise”, but report after report regarding Blackson are the days he isn’t practicing and that’s about it. The good news is, once the season starts, as long as he is healthy, I don’t think there will be any issues here.
Roquan Smith, LB
I feel like we have to include Roquan Smith on this list to some degree. He is choosing to “hold in” versus out, but he’s also calling out the front office in the media and trying to tamper on his own behalf by using a non-licensed / NFLPA-approved person to find trade interest from other teams. We haven’t seen him on the practice field in months. I don’t think he will struggle should he sign before the season starts, but maybe it’s time to move on and trade him.
