8. Nathan Peterman

Nathan Peterman getting playing time in the final preseason game shows that the team is invested in him. If he was just signed for training camp snaps, the team would feel no need to play him.

However, they like what he brings, and know that he brings something to the meeting room. Luke Getsy clearly wants him in there, and there is a track record of him being in some quarterback rooms that showed development. It may not show on the field, but teams know that Nathan Peterman has some value in the NFL.

A third quarterback is not a huge need, and if the team does get to Peterman, the season is likely over anyways. Still, keeping him around in the meeting rooms is well worth one of the 16 practice squad spots, and he likely knew that when he signed with the team.
