Nobody in the NFL media circuit expects the Chicago Bears to put up much of a fight this season. They are a permanent resident at the tail end of every analyst’s power rankings and one of the favorites to land the first overall pick.
Chicago may not be ready to contend for a Super Bowl this year, but their promising preseason has instilled hope that they could exceed expectations in Matt Eberflus’ first season. Likewise, Justin Fields has inspired confidence in his ability to perform at a high level in the new scheme, as he has looked comfortable and in command of the offense (albeit with a small sample size) through three games of exhibition play.
Everyone is watching the development of second-year quarterback Justin Fields, who has a chance to become the elite franchise quarterback the team has been searching for. However, one could argue that establishing an identity is paramount to any individual success, and Chicago will be attempting to find theirs for the first time since 2018.
The Chicago Bears underwent a drastic roster transformation this offseason. 33 players on the team’s 53-man roster are new additions, and Chicago now boasts one of the youngest teams in the league. While this makes the new-look unit significantly more intriguing, it also makes projecting how they will perform a much more difficult task. With that said, there are several storylines to keep an eye on as the season rolls around.
