Can the Chicago Bears catch the 49ers at the right time with QB drama?
We kept the questions going with these two others also regarding the quarterback position.
How are fans feeling about bringing Jimmy Garoppolo back as the highest-paid backup? Does this situation mean Lance needs to keep looking over his shoulder?
"“The majority of fans are not happy about Garoppolo’s return because they don’t like winning and Garoppolo wins a lot. Since Garoppolo’s winning trend extends beyond San Francisco, back to his days as Tom Brady’s backup in New England, many fans are far from pleased. There is a cadre of sensible fans that view Garoppolo’s return as positive, as the 49ers hope to have two NFL-caliber starting quarterbacks on their roster. In truth, there are a decent number of fans who fall into this category; they’re just quieter and have grown tired of the constant public shaming. Lance doesn’t need to keep looking over his shoulder because his bar for ‘success’ is set extremely low. Shanahan bet his job on Lance and doesn’t like Garoppolo. Jimmy G would rather be somewhere else. Barring injury or an affair with Shanahan’s wife, Lance is the 49ers’ starting quarterback. Of note, Garoppolo is not the NFL’s highest-paid backup quarterback, contrary to media reports.”"
Is it possible that other teams also see unfair treatment from the national media? We all know that the Chicago Bears do. This led to the third question about Trey Lance.
Is the national media making too big of a deal about Trey Lance not being voted as one of the six team captains?
"“Yes, the national media can’t stop talking about 49ers-related drama, regardless of whether it’s fact or proven fiction. The honor of ‘Captain’ status is earned – even for quarterbacks – and Lance will have the opportunity to earn it this season. Trey being ‘annoyed,’ as the national media claims, would only prove Shanahan’s decision to be the correct one – provided the story isn’t a total fabrication."
