5 wide receiver trades Chicago Bears should call about
1. Would Darius Slayton make sense on the Chicago Bears?
Darius Slayton is number because he is the combination of a realistic candidate for a cheap price, and more than that, his skill set fits Justin Fields well. The New York Giants say that they do not want to trade Slayton, but with Kenny Golladay, Kadarius Toney, Sterling Shepherd, and WanDale Robinson out of the lineup, he is still behind Richie James and David Sills. At times he played behind Marcus Johnson, too.
That may be what their thoughts on the talent of Slayton is, but at the same time, when he does play, he creates separation deep, and at the very least, he draws attention and demands safety and respect, which helps open others up on offense.
The Chicago Bears saw this firsthand when they played the Giants. Kyler Gordon was called for a crushing pass interference when Slayton beat Gordon deep.
So, the Bears are probably the team to get the biggest taste of his talent. When you think of Justin Fields, he needs more players who can run deep and haul in the deep ball. Beyond that, adding Slayton to the mix can add a deep threat who opens up more space for Mooney as well.
It may not be the flashy move, but we know that Ryan Poles can look deep for help. Slayton seems like a player that Poles would want to add to the room.
