How many of you have a Mitch Trubisky jersey sitting in your closet? I have the 100th-anniversary throwback jersey in my closet. Seeing the number 10 brings back pain whenever I see it. Most of you know I was and still am a Trubisky stan. Seeing him fail here in Chicago wasn’t fun, but I’m grateful for the Chicago Bears drafting Justin Fields last year instead. Fields’ ceiling is much higher than Trubisky’s and I think it’s safe to assume Trubisky will be a backup for the rest of his career.

Last year, I could have repurposed my Mitch Trubisky jersey into a Damiere Byrd jersey, but what fun or good would that have been? Clearly, I knew Byrd would not last on this roster. Now though, the Chicago Bears have a new number 10 and he has a chance to be here for a decent amount of time. Plus, he has the ability to be fun to watch. Ryan Poles traded for Chase Claypool to give Justin Fields an additional weapon. Now, we get to see that weapon in action.

Fans can repurpose their Mitch Trubisky Chicago Bears jerseys thanks to Chase Claypool

I wouldn’t expect Claypool to see a large percentage of snaps this week vs Miami. However, I do expect to see him on the field. If you look at the Chicago Bears depth chart, Chase Claypool is already slotted in as the third WR of the group. He is ahead of Velus Jones, Jr., Dante Pettis and even N’Keal Harry. Now, I just hope that the team uses him more efficiently than the Pittsburgh Steelers did this year and last. We need to see Claypool on the outside more than in the slot.

With Claypool choosing to wear No. 10, it means we can pull those Mitch Trubisky jerseys out of our closets and upcycle them. Yes, you can just buy a new jersey with Claypool’s name actually on the back. Why though when you can just replace the name by buying a custom nameplate to stitch over the current one? You could also just use the old duct tape route too if you want. There’s no guarantee that Claypool works out here and you may need to replace the jersey again in a couple of years anyway.
