2. Chase Claypool adds to the running game
One thing we wrote once Claypool was traded was that it would be an easy bet to take Chase Claypool to get a handoff. The Pittsburgh Steelers loved to hand it off to the big athlete who does not go down easy, and Luke Getsy fancies getting creative with end-arounds as well.
Heck, Getsy even had Cole Kmet take a handoff. With that in mind, it was obvious that Claypool would take a handoff. While it was only for four yards, it just opens up more for this offense. Claypool can take it, Equanimeous St. Brown can take it, and Dante Pettis had a big run against the Patriots. Even Cole Kmet is involved.
This is just another layer that Luke Getsy is adding to the mix. Claypool is bigger, stronger, and faster than Pettis and ESB, so you have to imagine that most of their run-game action will now go to Claypool. This is a huge win.
Beyond that, you see that Claypool will test any defense that has one defender on him deep, but also defenders have to keep eye on him in the backfield. That is a full-field player, which obviously creates an impact.
