Chicago Bears Thought No. 6: Early preview of the next game vs. the Packers

While the status of Justin Fields remains uncertain this week for the Bears, the Packers are also dealing with their own as Aaron Rodgers suffered a rib injury and left the game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

He also revealed a thumb injury he had been playing since Week 5 turned out to be a broken thumb. There had been talks of shutting him down for the rest of the season since the Packers are on the brink of officially being eliminated from the playoff picture. You can bet he will play against the Bears, so he can stick it to Chicago fans.

It would be nice to see Justin Fields finally beat Rodgers and the Packers. But not only Darnell Mooney is out for the year. Larry Borom left the game with an ankle injury and Riley Reiff left the game with a shoulder injury the Sunday before. The pass protection once again could become problematic as Alex Leatherwood might be forced into action if neither player is available.

The defense will be without Eddie Jackson and the status of Kyler Gordon and Jaquan Brisker remains up in the air as they are both dealing with the concussion. The injury to the secondary comes at the worst time as their rookie wide receiver Christian Watson is heating up, scoring six touchdowns in the last three games.

Whether it is Rodgers or backup Jordan Love playing, Watson could have a field day against the Bears’ depleted secondary.

Despite the temptation, it would be wise to sit Justin Fields out and allow him to heal until the bye week.

Early scoring prediction: Packers 28-16
