The Chicago Bears need to take the red zone training wheels off
Is it possible that Ryan Poles and the Chicago Bears coaching staff are tanking on purpose? This team seems to find itself on the losing side of one-score games too often. How many times have we seen the offense drive down the field just to fall short inside the red zone? It has gotten so bad that my podcast cohost dubbed it the “dread zone” instead.
We saw that long pass to N’Keal Harry last week, and then the play-calling became so vanilla that it seemed like Luke Getsy and Matt Eberflus were playing for a field goal and not a touchdown. This isn’t the first time that has happened. For some reason when the Chicago Bears hit the red zone, the passing game takes a backseat. That needs to stop. We need to see what Justin Fields can continue to do. We need to see him prove he can score touchdowns through the air.
Luke Getsy and Matt Eberflus need to take the training wheels off even more. We’ve seen it between the 20s, but once the team gets close to the end zone, Getsy seems to get too conservative with his play calls. That cannot happen in 2023 if they plan to be competitive next year.

The Chicago Bears have not been able to beat any of their divisional rivals. Taking back the NFC North and not giving it back has to wait for 2023.
These are three changes I want to see happen in Week 15 and beyond. What are some other changes you’d like to see take place?
