3. Chicago Bears will be starting DeAndre Houston-Carson

With Eddie Jackson banged up, we are expected to see a lot of DeAndre Houston-Carson over the final month. Houston-Carson is a fascinating player because he has been with the Chicago Bears since 2016, and he has five career starts. All of them have come in the past two seasons.

So, from 2016-2020 he stayed with the team despite no starts. First, they love him on special teams. Second, he showed how valuable he is as depth when he finally was asked to start.

The time he started last season was impressive, and it almost had us thinking he could get a chance somewhere and would not be back. Still, before the team drafted Jaquan Brisker it was looking like Houston-Carson would get a shot in Chicago.

Now, he is. It will be interesting to see what happens when Brisker returns because DHC was initially his backup. DHC can play both safety roles, but rookie Elijah Hicks played the free safety role when Eddie Jackson went down. Does DHC move to FS after Brikser returns?

Either way, this can go a long way for DHC. He can start at both safety spots, to continue to prove how valuable he is as a depth player. He may enter the offseason once again viewing the landscape to see where he has a shot to start, as his career continues into year seven.
