Chicago Bears Thought No. 6: The early preview of Bears vs. Bills

The Bears face an early game on Christmas Eve against another Super Bowl contender, the Buffalo Bills.

They are another team that the Bears can learn about how they constructed a roster around their quarterback Josh Allen. Some experts have compared the growth trajectory Justin Fields has shown this year is like that of Josh Allen in his second year with the Bills.

While they struggled a bit last month, they are coming to Chicago and peaking at the right time. They can legitimately dethrone Kansas City Chiefs and defending AFC Champion Cincinnati Bengals to get to the Super Bowl this season. They have drafted very well under GM Branden Beane and added key veterans like WR Stephon Diggs and signed free agents like pass rusher Von Miller, who won a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams last year and Denver Broncos in the past to bring championship experience.

The game-time weather is expected to be brutal on Saturday, with about six inches of snow expected between Thursday and Friday, and wind gust up to 40-50 miles an hour.

But that shouldn’t be a problem nor should be used as an excuse if they somehow struggle against the undermanned Bears. You might remember they beat the Miami Dolphins in a similar climate last Saturday night, and their home game against Cleveland Browns in Week 11 had to be moved to Detroit because of heavy snowfall that blanked the Buffalo area.

The Bills will not likely underestimate the Bears because they saw how the Eagles struggled although the Eagles may have been caught looking ahead to the Dallas Cowboys game this week. Much like the Eagles game, expect the Bears to play hard and push the Bills until the very end, but do not expect any early Christmas miracle.

Early scoring prediction: Bills 31-21
