Chicago Bears get Tee Higgins and three draft picks in the return from Bengals

In return for the second-overall pick, the Chicago Bears get a huge return. The main piece of the trade is 23-year-old wide receiver Tee Higgins. Higgins was selected 33rd overall (first pick of the second round) in 2020. He has been a go-to target for Joe Burrow over the last three years and has one year left on his contract. The Bengals also have star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase though and value a defensive end like Will Anderson over the three-year veteran receiver.

Adding Tee Higgins to the Chicago Bears offense instantly makes this wide receiver corps. one to be feared. Higgins, Claypool and Mooney make one deadly trio for Justin Fields to throw to in 2023. Higgins had 908 yards in 2020 and 1,091 yards in 2021. This year he currently has 1.022. Higgins is 6’4″ and 215 pounds. Having him on the outside and Claypool across from him with Mooney in the slot would be a great combination in my opinion.

Now, giving the Bengals the second-overall pick for Tee Higgins alone makes zero sense. Higgins is not worth the second-overall pick by himself. However, in this trade, the Bears also received the Bengals’ 2023 first-round pick (28), their 2023 second-round pick (59), and a 2024 third-round pick.

With the 28th overall pick, The Draft Network has the Chicago Bears selecting Nolan Smith out of Georgia. Smith is an EDGE rusher who would slot in as a defensive end in this defense. He’d push to start, but is somewhat raw and wouldn’t keep the Bears from targeting a top-end defensive end in free agency.
