We are two games away from the end of the regular season. The Chicago Bears will be facing off against the Detroit Lions this week and the Minnesota Vikings in the final week. The hope for fans is that the Chicago Bears lose both of those games and hold onto the second-overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, or better yet, take over the first-overall pick. To do that though, Houston will need to win another game too. Fans also want to see young players show individual success. Players like Justin Fields, Chase Claypool, Cole Kmet, Teven Jenkins, Jaquan Brisker and Kyler Gordon.

Nearly two weeks ago, we saw one of those players go down with what looked like a season-ending injury. In fact, I was concerned it was career-ending. Teven Jenkins went down with an injury that required him to be carted off the field on a backboard. With Jenkins’ back injury history, I don’t think I was alone in being concerned. Well, it turns out that what was reported as a neck injury must not be as severe of an injury as originally thought.

Teven Jenkins was a full participant at the Chicago Bears practice

Although Wednesday is usually a walk-through practice for the Bears, Teven Jenkins was listed as a full participant on the injury report. Jenkins walked us through what happened during a locker room interview at Halas Hall today. He told reporters he was scared because he had never had a neck injury like that. The pain was severe and that is why he was writhing in pain. The good news is that he knew he was fine about an hour after he was carted off of the field. Doctors allowed him to go into a softer cast at that point and allowed him to start working on his mobility.

Teven Jenkins plans on playing this week vs the Detroit Lions. He told reporters he feels pretty good and that what happened in the game vs the Eagles could have been worse. That said, he doesn’t plan on changing his aggressive play style. He said it is part of his job, he loves football and injuries are just part of it.

I am glad to hear that Teven Jenkins is healthy. He is the main component going forward on that offensive line next to Braxton Jones. The Chicago Bears will need to build the 2023 offensive line around him as he’s the only exceptional player at his respective position on that line.
