Chicago Bears Mock Draft: Round 4, Pick 102 – Chase Brown, RB, Illinois

With David Montgomery’s future with the Chicago Bears uncertain, this seemed like the perfect time to get a guy who could pair well with Khalil Herbert as a 1-2 punch.

This is also a strong running back draft, so striking while the iron is hot would be a good idea for the Chicago Bears, especially if the two parties— David Montgomery and the Bears— can’t agree on a contract.

While Brown reportedly runs a 4.42 40-yard dash, his game speed looks much faster than that.

In fact, Chase Brown reached a speed of 22.5 mph on one of his touchdown runs in 2021.

Now, Brown is listed as a running back, but what he does with the ball in his hands makes him much more than the standard running back.

From the film I’ve watched, Chase Brown is much more of an offensive weapon than strictly a running back.

That’s not to say he can’t run the ball between the tackles in a singe-back look. He can do that, but that’s nowhere near his limitations.

Now, is he Jahmyr Gibbs? No, but he’s a nice Big Ten version of him.

Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears would be very happy to get him on their offense, especially if David Montgomery has played his final snap as a member of the Bears.
