The rest of the teams that could potentially trade up with the Chicago Bears

Alright, I don’t believe that the Detroit Lions or the Philadelphia Eagles are going to trade up to the first-overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. That leaves the sixth-overall pick and the 10th-overall pick off the table. Let’s take the quickest of looks at what the other suitors could offer, including one team outside the top 10 who might need to move back up for a new quarterback.

I’m not going to put the totals together on these or break them down. If you want to see the totals, you can calculate them yourself. Jimmy Johnson Model and Rich Hill Model

Las Vegas Raiders – 7th Overall

Atlanta Falcons – 8th Overall

Carolina Panthers – 9th Overall

All of these trades are very similar. When in this range, the teams moving up will need to give up quite a bit, but the payout is never going to hit that 100% number. Remember, these are starting points. The trades should fall somewhere similar. They could be slightly more or slightly less, but nothing drastically different no matter what Chicago Bears fans are hoping to see happen.

Here’s one last potential trade that could happen.

New York Jets – 13th Overall

In this scenario, the Jets are done with Zach Wilson and want to trade up for another shot at a QB. This would be similar to the Rams and Titans trade in 2016. The Rams traded up from 15th to first overall to select Jared Goff. The Rams gave up an additional second in that draft, but the Jets do not own multiple picks in any rounds of the 2023 NFL Draft. With that extra second-round pick, the Rams only gave up a future first and third. Without that extra second-rounder, the Jets are giving up a future first and second, while only getting a future sixth-rounder in exchange.

There are many ways for this 2023 NFL Draft to unfold, but it only makes sense for the Chicago Bears to trade down. Some want multiple trade-back scenarios to happen for the Bears, but it’s never that simple. You need to find the right trade partners and the right trade values. The key here is Ryan Poles finding at least one team to trade down with though. Again, these can be his starting points. Which ones are you most hopeful for? Are there any you wouldn’t take?
