The Chicago Bears roll into the 2026 season with a ton of confidence, but that doesn't mean everything has gone well for them.

They lost a lot of key guys from last year, as the Bears are looking for backups to step up and trying to get younger with the roster. Plus, this is a team looking to try to save money wherever they can for the future.

That means some positions on the Bears' developing roster did not receive the attention they needed and might have regressed as a unit. Here is a look at three position groups on the Bears that appear to have gotten worse during the offseason:

Three Bears position groups that saw regression in 2026 offseason

Cornerback

Anytime a unit loses a Pro Bowler in Nahshon Wright and another key starter in nickel C.J. Gardner-Johnson, it's hard to see how the position got any better with minimum moves made. Rookie fourth-round pick Malik Muhammad was the only big addition at cornerback, as he's expected to compete with Tyrique Stevenson for the starting job. Other than that, the Bears' corners should be just fine with Jaylon Johnson 100% healthy, but if Kyler Gordon's soft tissue injury doesn't get better, then Chicago might have a bigger problem on their hands.

Left Tackle

This position has always been a concern for the Bears, but Ozzy Trapilo's injury made the situation worse, as he isn't expected to start the season and could be out for a while. They did bring back Braxton Jones and signed Jedrick Wills Jr. to compete with Theo Benedet for the job. When there are three guys battling for a starting job, that's usually not a good indication that things will get any better at a position, despite the buzz circling around Jones being better in 2026.

Wide Receiver

The Bears lost DJ Moore after trading him to the Buffalo Bills, and Olamide Zacchaeus, as he signed with the Atlanta Falcons in free agency. They were replaced with Kalif Raymond and Zavion Thomas, both more known as special teams returners than wide receivers. It's not that the position was a big concern, with Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III expected to have great seasons, but it's still a bit concerning that it didn't necessarily get better in the offseason.
