Most NFL experts have been on board with the idea that the 2026 season could be the one where Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is in the running for NFL MVP.
Williams got the Ben Johnson era rolling strong last year with a franchise-record 3,942 yards and 31 total touchdowns to seven interceptions, but those numbers don't mean some believe the leap will necessarily happen. Sports Illustrated NFL writer Conor Orr gave 100 bold predictions for 2026, and his predictions about the NFC North quarterbacks will hurt, as he's got Williams leading in one category. Green Bay Packers signal-caller Jordan Love might have the better season.
"Love will outpace Jared Goff, Caleb Williams and the combination of Kyler Murray, Carson Wentz and J.J. McCarthy in touchdowns and completion percentage. But Williams will lead the NFC North in passing yards."
Bears fans would not be cool with Jordan Love outperforming Caleb Williams
If Bears fans looked at the numbers between Williams and Love, they would be pretty comparable, with Williams beating Love in a lot of key stats.
Statistical Category (2025) | Caleb Williams | Jordan Love |
|---|---|---|
Head to Head Record | 2-1 | 1-2 |
Season Completion Percentage | 58.1% | 66.3% |
Season Passing Yards | 3,942 | 3,381 |
Season Rushing Yards | 388 | 199 |
Season Total Touchdowns | 31 | 23 |
Season Interceptions | 7 | 6 |
Yes, Bears fans can acknowledge that when it comes to completion percentage, Love has Williams beat, as most quarterbacks do in the NFL. Williams had issues with receivers dropping passes, but the accuracy was not quite there.
With that being said, Williams got better as a passer as the season went on and proved that he can make all the throws required of him that Love could only dream of making. Williams came up clutch more often throughout the season than Love did, leading to the Bears winning the NFC North and beating the Packers in the playoffs.

Williams may not be the perfect quarterback, but Year 3 is going to be the one where he shows the NFL that he is the true superstar that no one can sleep on and will undoubtedly outperform Love.
