Life has been pretty good for Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams in the past year as he has himself in a position where he will be a star in the NFL.

Williams is coming off a great season for the Bears on the field, as well as a new leak showing him to be on the cover of Madden 27, which only means that there are big expectations for him entering 2026. ESPN NFL analyst Matt Bowen shared his bold prediction, 100 days before the regular season begins, that Williams will win the MVP.

"Williams threw for 3,942 yards and 27 touchdowns in 2025, his first season under coach Ben Johnson. With another offseason to develop in Johnson's system, the Bears QB is primed to play at a high level in 2026. Plus, he has a versatile and explosive group of pass catchers. The arrow is pointing up on Williams -- and Johnson's playcalling."

Caleb Williams predicted to win the NFL MVP in 2026

This has slowly become a popular bold prediction about the Bears. It's easy to see everyone buying into the hype around Williams after seeing some of the incredible throws he's made not only last year but already at OTAs.

The accuracy is what worries everyone about Williams after going from 62% in 2024 to 58% in 2025. If the Bears' receivers can clean up their drops and Williams can work through his progressions more consistently, that is something head coach Ben Johnson can fix.

Speaking of Johnson, having him as head coach and continuing to develop Williams is so important to the Bears' success. Johnson has already made significant improvements for Williams, and the building blocks are in place for his young quarterback to keep growing. A second year in Johnson's system will only make Williams better in 2026 and beyond.

This is only the beginning of what could be a successful run for the Bears, going from 5-12 in 2024 to Super Bowl contenders this season. Williams' play will have a lot to do with that, as he has a chance to really show what kind of player he will be in Chicago for a long time.
