3 off-the-wall trade targets the Chicago Bears need to turn things around

These are not big names for the most part, but the Chicago Bears should consider trading some lower draft capital for former first-rounders who have struggled. These three names have not likely been mentioned but could help the Bears maintain their current winning record and fight for a playoff spot this season.

The Chicago Bears are coming off a disappointing loss to the Commanders. Accountability does not seem to be on display from the coaching staff -- at least not to the media. Matt Eberflus wants everything to remain in-house. Bears fans just want the coaching staff to be honest, stop overthinking things when simplicity is all that is needed, and for players to be held accountable for their poor decisions. Despite being 4-3 on the season, Chicago has an uphill climb as the NFC North continues to dominate the NFL.

The injury bug has hit the Chicago Bears hard over the last couple of weeks. They still find themselves without Jaquan Brisker and Kyler Gordon is looking to be a game-time decision. Montez Sweat hardly practiced this week and Teven Jenkins seems to miss time nearly every game.

Making a splash trade does not seem like the right move this year. Ryan Poles has been active at the trade deadline the last two years and although the Chase Claypool trade didn't work out, the Montez Sweat trade last season has looked fantastic. Poles isn't afraid to make moves. Darrell Taylor and Chris Williams were offseason trade acquisitions this year and both have contributed at different points this season.

I prefer teams building through the draft, but acquiring talent via trade can also be beneficial. I do not think Poles is going to make a big splash trade as he did for Sweat last year, but some prospects have yet to live up to their first-round hype and might be worth trading for since they will not cost much. These names will not make a big impact like you would see from guys like Myles Garrett, Maxx Crosby, Travon Walker, or Micah Parsons. However, with the current injuries the Bears are dealing with, one of these guys could potentially fill in and help from a depth perspective.
