3 reasons Chicago Bears need to fire Matt Eberflus as soon as possible

The Chicago Bears have never fired a head coach in the middle of a season.

However, something feels different with Matt Eberflus, and even though the record is not at an all-time low, fan morale is.

Why do the Bears need to make the move sooner rather than later?

3. The Chicago Bears have taken a bad turn

The Bears lack composure and the morale has been awful. There is a saying about letting one bad loss turn into two. The Bears have let the Hail Mary game turn into three straight losses. They were outcoached and outclassed in the Washington game, but the team almost survived.

However, the failure to execute, followed by the inability to take responsibility, has allowed the loss to linger. The team spent the week dealing with the repercussions of the loss rather than focusing on Arizona. It is not a shock that the team did not show up for that game.

When you lose the locker room, you are lost completely. The team did not completely quit, but the last two games showed efforts that brought enough questions that something had to change.

2. The Chicago Bears have lost too many games that they should have won

Matt Eberflus was given some slack because he inherited a rebuilding team. His first year was essentially lost as the team rebuilt the roster. However, the team has been ready to compete in the last two years, and Eberflus has cost them far too many times.

At first you wondered if this was Justin Fields. He often struggled late in games in these situations. However, the Washington loss, and the two losses coming out of it have to have fans pointing the finger at Eberflus.

1. The Chicago Bears cannot risk ruining Caleb Williams

The Bears essentially have four years before they have to decide whether to pay Caleb Williams an enormous, franchise-changing contract. With Mitch Trubisky and Justin Fields, the team waited too long to make changes, was left with a lot of what-ifs, and moved on. They cannot let that happen with Caleb Williams.

The Bears went out of their way to give Williams the proper skill players to succeed. They tried to revamp the line and brought in a new offensive coordinator. It is not working and Williams looked much worse than Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels when facing them head-to-head.

Maybe the problem is Williams. However, they cannot keep Eberflus and just assume that things will get better, or that is the case. They need to try as much as possible in these next four years to ensure that he is not being held back. Right now, it is not working, and thinking that it could improve over time may just end up wasting time.
