The Chicago Bears might have been on the losing end of their Sunday night tilt against the San Francisco 49ers, but one thing was for sure - Caleb Williams played a near-flawless game. Honestly, that game could easily be considered the best of Williams' young career to this point.
Williams finished the game with 330 yards passing, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions while also not getting sacked at all. He was wheeling and dealing in this one, and while it wasn't enough to get his team the win (though a lot of that can be pinned squarely on the defense for surrendering 42 points), it definitely earned him the respect of his peers on the other squad.
When speaking to the media, 49ers safety Ji'Ayir Brown couldn't help but praise Williams' performance.
"Feel like he's one of the, if not the, best outside the pocket passing quarterbacks, man. When he gets on the move, man he can throw it as if he's standing still, man, on the move," Brown said. "I feel like he's the driving force of that offense and he's definitely one of the better quarterbacks in this game, man."
Caleb Williams proves he belongs after elite showing against 49ers
Brown's praise sums up exactly how Bears fans feel, and it's so refreshing to have a quarterback like this on the team finally. As we all know, this franchise has struggled to find its quarterback of the future for quite some time, and Williams appears to be that for Chicago, finally. It's a great feeling.

Of course, there's still a long way to go for Williams to prove he belongs with the Patrick Mahomeses and Josh Allens of the league, but making it to the playoffs in just his second season and doing so as a division champ is a nice first step toward getting there.
