The Chicago Bears are finally on the field for a preseason game as they face the Cleveland Browns.
Chicago has so many position battles to decide in the game, but it might take more time. This is also an important time for key players to play, since they may be starting in the future given the injuries the Bears are dealing with.
There are five things that should be expected from the Bears-Browns preseason that are either a good or bad thing for the Bears. Here's a look at each of them,
How will the Bears look in preseason opener against the Browns?
Tyson Bagent should put up big numbers for Bears' offense
If last year's preseason was any indication of what to expect for Bagent in 2026, he should have a great game. He threw for over 500 yards and five touchdowns to one interception in three preseason games last year. Bagent is going to put up big numbers against a Browns defense that is going through some transition.
Don't expect a big performance from the Bears' secondary
The Bears are so banged up in the secondary that this might not be their best game. Cleveland may not have a strong quarterback room, but they have plenty of NFL starts to their name so that they can play. An interception or two would be awesome, but keep the expectations low for the corners and safeties.
Xavier Woods is the exception for Bears' secondary as he should be great
Woods has made a strong start since joining the team about a week ago. He has taken over the safety job Coby Bryant held before his injury, which will keep him out for four to six months. Things aren't great in the secondary, but it feels like Woods is going to ball out and play well for the Bears.
The left tackle job is not going to have a clear picture on who will win it
First off, Braxton Jones isn't playing, so this job won't be decided after the game. Also, Kiran Amegadjie and Jedrick Wills Jr. may not play well enough to really put themselves over Jones in the running. This is another position group that might have low standards and could partly explain why Caleb Williams isn't playing in this game.

Roschon Johnson might put himself back on the map with Bears fans
All offseason, Johnson has heard about him being a cut candidate by nearly every NFL writer. He'll play with some aggression and motivation. Watch out for Johnson to have a breakout game on the ground and pick up a short-yardage touchdown.
