The Chicago Bears have finalized the 53-man roster, and while there were some surprises, most were expected.
One thing about this roster is that it is young and filled with rookies, including multiple undrafted ones. It is clear everyone agrees the Bears really transformed this roster from last year's, adding multiple new players.
Even so, this roster has plenty of winners and losers that show some interesting insights into what the future looks like for the Bears. Here's a look at the top winners and losers from the roster reveal.
Winners and losers from Bears' final 53-man roster
Winner: Hayden Large, TE
Ben Johnson is showing how much he values blocking tight ends in this offense. Large was a massive surprise to make the team, but his effort and preseason blocking skills helped him land a job. It's a matter of figuring out his role on this roster.
Loser: James Lynch, DT
It sounds like Lynch will be on the roster eventually, but he was one of the guys cut. He had a great training camp and preseason, but the Bears needed room for other players. Hopefully, Chicago can get him back on the roster soon enough.
Winner: Jayden Loving, DT
How about an undrafted rookie who won a roster spot over Lynch? Loving made a strong case at the end of camp to be on the roster, and he was able to surprise many. It'll be interesting to see if the Bears truly keep him on the roster or let him walk at some point this season.
Loser: Kyler Gordon, CB
It wouldn't be a Bears winners-losers article without Gordon landing on it as a loser. He is on the PUP list with no timeline for his return. This mystery has no resolution coming anytime soon.
Winner: Malik Muhammad, CB
Gordon's news just confirms that Muhammad has a good chance of being the starting nickel for the upcoming 2026 season. During the preseason, Muhammad played well and showed he can do the job. It'll be interesting to see how the young rookie corner does if he lands the job.
Loser: Salvon Ahmed, RB
It was truly a stunner to see Ahmed not make the roster after a great preseason. He has a chance to be a great running back, but he might have to wait either on the Bears' practice squad or get signed elsewhere. Regardless, Bears fans are not too happy that he missed the cut over Roschon Johnson
Winner: Roschon Johnson, RB
Speaking of Johnson, he went from being a cut candidate at the beginning of training camp to making the team as the RB3. Some will question his vision, but he did show some good things in training camp and preseason. It appears he'll get another chance to stay in Chicago.

Winner: Skyler Thomas, S
Another undrafted rookie who proved himself and made the team. Thomas has come on strong in the last two preseason games with some great plays, including his interception in the Cincinnati Bengals game. Overall, he's been a big surprise and might see playing time this year with all the injuries at the position.
