The Chicago Bears knew they would lose coaches from their staff after a successful season, but one scenario is playing out that could be very bad for the team.
Bears defensive backs coach and defensive pass game coordinator Al Harris is starting to get interest from other teams about being a defensive coordinator. ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler reported that Harris will interview with the Washington Commanders for their defensive coordinator opening.
That one is not as bad, but Harris has already done an interview that is a complete nightmare for the Bears. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that Harris interviewed with the Green Bay Packers for their defensive coordinator opening.

Al Harris might join the enemy in Green Bay
This would be a gut punch to the Bears to see their top assistant bolt to the Packers for their opening. That became available after former Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley took the Miami Dolphins head coach job.
Harris has had a spectacular year with the Bears in his first season with the team, navigating injuries to Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon. That resulted in Harris developing, and in Nahshon Wright and C.J. Gardner-Johnson becoming great replacements for them, including Wright leading the NFL in turnovers created.
Another plus to add to Harris's resume is the work he did with safety Kevin Byard III, who led the NFL with seven interceptions. That earned him an All-Pro selection and potentially earned him a big contract with the Bears in the upcoming offseason.
The problem with Harris's potential with the Packers is that both sides are very familiar with each other. Harris played part of his NFL career in Green Bay and had some of his best seasons there. It's easy to see his motivation to reunite with the Packers and become their defensive coordinator.

Chicago would be okay with losing Harris, as that would be a good sign that Bears head coach Ben Johnson and his staff are doing a great job of developing their coaches to the next level. They just don't want it to be the Packers. Anybody but them.
