The former Packers QB actually had some very kind words for his old rival.

Chicago Bears fans got a bit of what they've been asking for this week, as the team decided to fire offensive coordinator Shane Waldron on Tuesday. Whether or not this is going to lead to bigger and better things for rookie quarterback Caleb Williams and the offense remains to be seen.

But, a change was made. So, we'll see how it works out.

Since the news broke, there have been a multitude of opinions, hot takes and explanations of the Bears' decision. Some have been right on par while others are quite outlandish. But, that's the nature of the beast.

One particular explanation and opinion on the matter, though, just might surprise some Bears fans.

As he does every week, former Bears nemesis Aaron Rodgers joined the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday and, of course, he was asked about Chicago firing Waldron and how it's going to impact Williams.

Rodgers gave quite a few meaningful, thought-out answers to the situation at hand.

"There's been a lot of quarterbacks who have had rough starts to their career with multiple play-callers," he explained while also going into an example like Alex Smith starting out with several coordinators back in San Francisco.

"It doesn't make it easy on the quarterback. There's just not a lot of patience anymore in the league," he said, referring to a lot of teams giving up on young quarterbacks way too early these days.

Of course, Williams is a little different than most. This is the first overall pick we're talking about, although Bryce Young is in the same boat, and he's already been benched, too.

"Unfortunately what happens is ... a lot of it is rinse and repeat," Rodgers said.

If that isn't the truth... Bears fans are quite used to coaches and coordinators being fired, repeating a dangerous cycle of coaching staff and quarterback over the years.

Aaron Rodgers offers hope for both Caleb Williams and Bears fans as a whole

Going past all of the times Rodgers has said things to get under Bears fans' skin, the quarterback did show a respect for both Williams and the city of Chicago as he gave some sincere thoughts on the rookie.

"I don't know him ... he's strong enough mentally to get through this. He is," Rodgers admitted.

That's pretty high praise coming from a future Hall of Fame quarterback who not only made a living torturing the Bears but also, as he said, doesn't know Williams, personally. If Rodgers can see through all of the B.S. and believes in Williams, then the fan base and coaches need to pipe down a little bit with all of the doubt.

Before finishing his thoughts on Williams, Rodgers surprisingly gave credit to Chicago and their fan base:

"And, Chicago's a great sports town. They got great sports fans," Rodgers said.

Well, how kind of him to say in regards to the franchise he "owns."

Rodgers concluded by giving some familiar sentiments, just as he has done with some of his former coaches, stating that when it's all said and done, the players have to perform and fans must have patience.

"The consensus for all fans is, 'if we're not winning now, then everybody needs to get the hell out.' But I would continue to preach patience for players and for coaches."
