Like many fan bases, Chicago Bears fans have thought about the possibility of Micah Parsons putting on a Bears jersey. Parsons is one of the best players in the league, and he would address a need for Chicago, so why wouldn’t fans imagine what it’s like to have him as a member of the defense? Fortunately for the Bears, the line between imagination and reality just got a lot thinner.
NFL fans have been monitoring what has become a tense contract saga between Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys, and took note of the star defender’s trade request. However, the overwhelming belief was that Parsons and Dallas would eventually figure things out. That was the case until Tuesday, when NFL insider Adam Schefter announced a report that has fan bases around the league excited.
According to Schefter, the Parsons situation isn’t like other high-profile negotiations the Cowboys had, like when they eventually reached a resolution with players like Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. The insider says the saga with Parsons points to an eventual divorce, which means he will play for another team. Chicago would love if that’s the case, because it could be the next team.

Bears must prepared to acquire Micah Parsons if Cowboys make him available
As Schefter outlines, the two sides haven’t spoken in months, and the relationship may have deteriorated to a point of no return. Still, Parsons is under contract with the Cowboys, and the team also has the ability to franchise tag him a couple of times. That’s why Schefter says the eventual divorce could be a matter of time. It could be this year, or next offseason after Dallas franchise tags him.
If it actually comes to that, the Bears must be prepared to do whatever it takes to land Parsons. From moving assets to committing a ton of money to him, he’s the kind of player that’s worth it all. Chicago went through something similar with Khalil Mack, and it proved to be a great deal. Things could work out even better this time, as the Bears are seemingly in a much better position than when they acquired Mack.
