All signs point to trouble for this Bears veteran heading into camp

How will he make the final roster?

The Chicago Bears have a lot of question marks when it comes to the depth of the defense, with the exception of the secondary.

Cornerbacks and safeties are all pretty solid with the first and second teams, which gives them enough comfort to trust their players. The same can't be said of the defensive line and linebackers.

Chicago's cornerbacks, in particular, are deep enough that some talented guys may not make it out of training camp. One of those veterans might end up being a camp casualty before the season begins.

Nahshon Wright might not make the final cut for the Bears' 53-man roster

This offseason, the Bears signed Nahshon Wright to a one-year contract with the team. He was a former third-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys back in 2021, where he spent his first three seasons. After starting three of the 32 games he appeared in, he only got in one game last year with the Minnesota Vikings.

The 26-year-old veteran has racked up 37 tackles, five pass deflections, one interception, and one tackle for loss in his career. His best season came in 2022, when he got 23 tackles, four pass deflections, one tackle for loss, and one pick in seven games.

It hasn't been the most memorable start to Wright's career, but he's gotten some playing time. He's found his way to success on special teams and filling in on defense when called upon.

His next chapter of this NFL career could end up being the last one as he's got some stiff competition to go up against in Chicago. He is projected to be a third-string outside cornerback. If he wants to move up on the depth chart, he'll have to beat rookie Zah Frazier and Terell Smith.

Wright has a decent chance of making the final roster, but he'll have to earn it through special teams. If he can't make any significant plays in preseason, he might be out of a job. And for good.
